Some looks were accented by a stylized, embroidered feather, while others featured black-on-white cutouts of flying flocks. Neon yellow pieces popped, and a handful of minis had skirts that swooped out on one side, rather like a wing in motion. In general, the looks were less structured and less authoritarian than we’re used to from de Souza, save one rigid black leotard that wouldn’t have been out of place in a Lady Gaga video. Accessories played a more important role this season, with elbow-length gloves making several appearances. A pair made of aqua lace matched with a black gown seemed especially well-received.

A final note on trends: So far, it seems to be all about texturing fabric in creative ways this season. Whether here, or at Christian Siriano, Vivienne Tam, or Tadashi Shoji, designers are all producing fabrics that make you wonder, how did they do that?
