Buglisi Dance Theatre & opening night party.

The Buglisi Dance Theater company recently took on the subject of love in the world premiere of “Letters of Love on Ripped Paper,” at the Joyce Theater,  a sublime dance piece inspired by romantic exchanges from Napoleon to Josephine and Zelda to Scott.

In “Requiem” the opening work, set to the music of Faure, Jacqulyn Buglisi, elegant female dancers, swathed in voluminous silk,  swirl, arch their backs, and pose like statues. After a memorable performance by the very talented company, opening night guests-including  Broadway-bound Kathleen Turner with her young co-star, Evan Jongkeit, and the legendary dancer Carmen DeLavallade moved on to a Chelsea townhouse to toast this ebullient company with champagne (always a must).
