Can you make it in America without a college degree?

rent, electricity, heat, food, phone, clothes and other accessories you will need. When and if you do have any free time at all it will be spent drinking large quantities of alcohol and passing out late at night in various different places around your very own NYC apartment. But this too is an education waiting for you, just don’t pass out too often on the street. Paralyzed existential individuals frothing from the mouth are never a pretty sight to the passer by, unless that type of thing turns you on.

After you graduate through the hells of scraping by you will get a job at a big corporation where you will live out the rest of your existence paying off your school loans that got you the piece of paper that says you are able to work like a machine. And yes think like one too. You will pit yourself apart from the rest of the people and slowly lose all humanistic qualities and will cry almost every night at the fact that you cannot feel anymore but you will have a degree, a job and will be someone somewhere. It will be what you have always wanted or so you may think. Possibly? Maybe? But at least you’re educated right?

You are going to possibly read this article and in the end you are going to want a definitive answer for which will solve all of the other things in your life that have gone unsolved and you are going to want me to give you the answer. Any answer will suffice as long as it is familiar with what has come before you and as long as it sounds like something for which you are living towards. Anything to keep you from having to stumble through the dark by yourself. Which will inevitably shows you your own inner light, which possibly guides you to the answer. Living out the answers instead of just reading about them. Memorizing them.

So in the end I guess if you want to fill yourself with debt go to college, if you want an education go to a library. If on the other hand you want to live and thrive, be our guest.

  1. That’s a big ole’ glass of truth juice. Well said! Well done. So true. I do the school-no-school waddle on a constant basis because at the end of the day, degree or not, it’s all about making money. For the good and the not so good. A degree may help or not help – I guess – in my opinion – it depends on the person – and what their passion is. For awhile I thought it was all about following the path – until of course – I walked in the opposite direction. Existence exists though one’s own perception. Whether it’s rosy or not, is up to you.

Thank you for such a thought-provoking article as well as for hearing me out.

    Have a wonderful day.
