Fashion gave back Wednesday week ago when David Meister premiered his Spring 2011 collection in support of the Dawson Scleroderma foundation, founded by Courtney Dawson. Celebrities and fashionistas alike walked the red carpet at the posh Carlton Hotel on Madison Ave, where they were saw some great clothes, bid on a silent auction of Ramona Singer‘s beautiful jewelery, and were fabulously wined and dined. The runway music was provided by DJ Runna and Swizz Beatz, the famous music producer and husband of Alicia Keys. Swizz Beats also hosted the evening and performed a surprise set later on. The whole event was taped by Bravo for The Real Housewives of New York.

Scleroderma is a too often fatal disease that affects 300,000 people across the country. It causes a thickening of the skin all over the body, a process that can also affect vital organs and the blood vessels. Courtney Dawson herself suffers from the disease, which has no cure, and has turned something that could have been a tragedy for herself into a cause to help thousands of others.
