There’s always something riveting hanging out with a bunch of intellectuals and die hard artists, and for all such things I am forever inclined to drag my attention at all the yummy things that keep coming out of BOMB mag. For all of those who don’t know (alas…I will collectively whip you at a later date…) – Bomb is the one of the premier journals that focuses on the cultural paradigms in play be it in literature, architecture, the visual arts or the bunk that you like to put in your mouth. In short they offer a compelling read, often artists, intellectuals and colorful sorts who like to interview each other and from time to time challenge each other. That said, we all came to together to support the wonderful Ms Betsy Sussler‘s efforts, the Editor in Chief of Bomb and her team this recent Tuesday night at the National Arts Club as they celebrated their 29th year in operation.

Amongst a wondrous array of donated art work for silent auction (I was too busy drinking to actually notice what was being auctioned, but I was told there was works by Joan Jonas, Guy Maddin, Joel Shapiro, Tina Barney, Alex Hubbard, Julie Mehretu and other renowned and emerging artists, selected from BOMB’s pages) and some heart felt speeches by Rob Pruitt, Brice Marden, and Matthew Barney, who were toasting the honorees Cecily Brown & Nicolai Ourossoff, Gabriel Orozco, and Nancy Spector. One could agree it was a snazzy affair and the right place to be if you liked to use your mind occasionally.

  1. Bravo, to Bomb magazine 29th anniversity at The National Arts Club. A Publication that’s delivered countless pieces on artists in the vast fields of the literary arts, performing arts, visual arts, and design. I ‘ve always been intrigued and taken with Bomb Magazine. As for seeing Lindsay Lohan in Bomb magazine it leaves me with a big question mark?
