That may not sound it, but the riding hats were actually trés chic, and wearable. I was surprised at how wearable the entire collection was. The theme was omnipresent, but it was only the combination of Stuart’s pieces that gave off the Old World feeling. Any one of the items by themselves would simply be a beautiful piece of clothing, more at home at a New York event than in an English farm.

Even the gorgeous, draping red cape and the sweater with big, woolly shoulders will soon be seen meandering down 5th Ave. And I expect the bell shaped hats will show up everywhere. Stuart took trends that cropped up all over Fashion week; purple, leather, thigh high boots and made them stand out. Her show was a demonstration of the transformative powers of fashion: cocktail dress to country girl chic, library to rolling Scottish dale, trendy to extraordinary.
