Ivan Montiel Roa, Orlando, Florida dad stabs 17-year-old-twins to death before killing self at family’s apartment. Bodies discovered after wellness check after family not seen more than a week and months after children’s mom’s death. No known motive.
A Florida father dad is alleged to have stabbed his teenage twin children before taking his own life in an apparent double murder-suicide, according to police. The tragedy comes just months after the children’s mother death.
Ivan Montiel Roa, 63, carried out the attack against his children, Carlo and Melanie Montiel Infantino, both 17, inside their Courtney Chase apartment in Orlando, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday in a news release.
Macabre discovery made following wellness check after family not seen more than a week
Officials discovered the teens’ bodies with multiple stab wounds lying in the living room, and Montiel Roa inside the master bedroom – on Wednesday following a call for a welfare check at the hands a concerned neighbor after not having seen the family in over a week.
‘At this time, detectives believe Ivan murdered Carlo and Melanie and then committed suicide,’ authorities said.
Police did not reveal how the killings occurred or how the father killed himself.
‘There are no words that can make sense of a loss like this,’ said Florida R rep. Rita Harris, who lives near the Courtney Chase Apartment Homes, where the family lived, FOX35 reported.
‘I am also thinking of the first responders and law enforcement officers who carry the weight of what they encounter in service to our community.’
‘It’s devastating as a mom, as a human being. Just any type of tragedy like this, but especially when the victims are so young,’ Harris said. ‘There’s a lot that can be done… making sure that we kind of wrap our arms around them and that they have what they need to get through what’s going to be, I can imagine the most difficult time of their lives.’
Family business recently dissolved
According to public records, Montiel Roa’s wife and Carlo and Melanie’s mother died in June. The family was from Venezuela, according to her obituary.
Montiel Roa was a realtor, according to his Facebook. He also had a construction business that was dissolved on Sept. 25, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
Authorities declined to say what led to the father dissolving the business and whether the parent was involved in financial difficulties.
Troubling social media posts
Ivan’s social media posts go back years, detailing conspiracy theories, the end of the world, the New World Order, and theories that life is an illusion.
In one post, he said, ‘We live alone and die alone. Everything else is an illusion.’
In another post, seemingly referencing 2008 film ‘The Dark Knight,’ the parent wrote, ‘Introduce a little anarchy, alter the established order and everything turns into chaos. I am an agent of chaos. And you know what you get with chaos? It’s fair. The Joker.’
Another post stated, ‘The holographic universe reveals the secrets of the reality we experience, where energy, frequency, and vibration come together, giving matter life and meaning.’
Authorities continue to investigate.
