Agostina Rubini Medina, Majorca, Spain woman feared dead after passing out in bin only to be crushed and incinerated after its contents were picked up and taken to landfill. Investigators seek to find missing woman’s DNA.
A 24 year old Spain student is feared dead after it she fell asleep in a rubbish container before the bin being towed to a dump where along the way she was crushed and incinerated as the trash facility was disposed of.
Agostina Rubini Medina, 24, of Majorca, Spain, had been missing for over two weeks after disappearing on a night out in the holiday island’s capital Palma.
Spanish investigators believe the unwitting victim was killed after falling asleep in a large bin, which was then collected by a bin truck and its items taken to a recycling plant. Medina’s demise followed the reveller going out earlier that night and drinking, only to later pass out, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reported.

Investigators are now looking for traces of the woman’s DNA at the landfill site after the bin’s contents were burned.
Medina’s mobile phone data was used to reconstruct her movements before she vanished.
Police believe that Agostina was waiting for a bus around midnight. Investigators surmised Medina had intended to take the bus, line 104, to Palmanova where she lived after having a drink with her friends earlier that evening. Except she never caught the bus, investigators now believe.
It is believed at some point, the woman dropped something into the rubbish bin (possibly her cellphone) and sought to climb inside the receptacle in about in a bit to retrieve it. Only to instead pass out from the alcohol and medication she was taking.
It is thought a rubbish truck shortly after passed and emptied the bin and crushed her to death as the bin’s contents were disposed of.
Discussing the case, Deputy Police Chief Fernando Reboyras said a witness had been waiting for a bus shortly before the woman’s death and had noticed her handbag placed neatly next to the container. At the time she had thought nothing of it, the SUN reported.
The witness, who was at the bus stop at 12:12 am, reportedly did not hear the victim call for help or scream before the bin-men arrived at 12:27 am to empty the bin.
The investigators said that the vehicle reached a waste incineration plant at 12:52 am. The 24-year-old woman’s phone gave its last signal shortly after at 2.59am.
Now investigators are working around the clock to find traces of Agostina’s DNA among the ashes and rubbish at the landfill site.
The investigation is ongoing.
