Wichita, Kansas soccer mom accidental mishap inside pick-up truck?
Stated the account in part on True Crime Mama:
‘A person who contacted me about the tragedy at Wichita’s Stryker Soccer Complex asked to remain anonymous.
‘I am sharing because this account seems to line up with the facts we do know – the driver was released without being charged and mechanical testing of the truck is being performed.
‘According to that account, a mother had been feeding a young child inside the parked truck before falling asleep. Another child was reportedly awake and playing inside the vehicle, which was running with the heater on.
‘The source claims the other child accidentally shifted the truck into drive, causing it to roll forward and strike a curb. They said the movement startled the mother awake, and she pressed the accelerator while believing she was pressing the brake.
‘The source also described a windshield sunshade that had been positioned to shield the baby from the sun. According to the account, it obstructed the mother’s view, and she believed another vehicle had struck the truck. The source claims she continued pressing the accelerator, thinking she was trying to stop.’
To date, officials have not commented on whether they believe the incident was accidental, deliberate or the result of mechanical failure. Nevertheless followers of the popular Facebook blog, with 879K followers continued to pile on and speculate.
Wichita, Kansas soccer mom remains focus of police investigation
Taylor, 34, was released following interviews and consultation with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office without charges pending the results of toxicology testing and a mechanical examination of the vehicle, the Wichita Police Department announced on Sunday.
The tragedy claimed the lives of Cole Adrian, 6, and Nicholas Schafer, 35, both of McPherson, Kansas.
Leading up to the tragedy, the soccer mom’s Chevrolet pickup was parked in a parking space near the soccer fields before it sped onto one of the fields with two children inside, investigators said.
One of the driver’s children was playing at the Stryker Sports Complex, but was on a different field from where the deadly crash unfolded.
At the time, the woman’s two other young daughters were inside the pick-up truck. Images shared on social media (see below) also appeared to show sun shields on the windshield, possibly confirming that the parent had been napping prior to the incident.
‘O.M.G! What have I done?!’
Following the crash, the soccer mom was heard shouting, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, what have I done?’ a reporter recalled, according to the nypost.
During the course of police interviews, authorities said Taylor had a valid driver’s license, no warrants, and was being cooperative.
The Wichita Police Department described the tragedy as a ‘mass casualty incident’ and urged the public to share any video footage taken from the scene.
‘Regardless of how significant you believe your footage may be, we encourage you to submit it. Even the smallest detail could assist investigators,’ the The Wichita Police Department said in a post on X.
