A California woman suspected of driving under the influence faces a second degree murder charge after causing the death of an 8-year-old girl when she careened into the girl’s family car.
Silvia Corona, of San Jacinto, CA., was identified as the fatal victim after Silvi Corona, 52, allegedly crashed into the family car on August 15th at about 5:36 p.m. at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Rider Street in Perris, Riverside County.

The incident left six family members injured, with two suffering life threatening injuries and the family car to catch on fire, NBC Los Angeles reported citing the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Camilla Leon who was one of the two passengers critically injured later died from her injuries.
Corona who was the driver and sole occupant of the offending vehicle was also injured and hospitalized.
Corona was arrested Aug. 17 and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and held on $110K bond, officials said in a press release.
She posted bail and was released from custody the following day, KTLA reported.

Warrant for second degree murder charge issued for suspected DUI driver
On Aug. 20, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Corona’s arrest on an additional charge of second-degree murder, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies went to Corona’s residence and took her into custody without incident.
She was booked again into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center, this time on the murder charge, with bail set at $1 million, according to a Thursday update.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser organized for the family, Camila’s brother and father remain in critical condition, while her mother is stable.
