A Glasgow, Kentucky woman and her unborn child were reportedly killed in a shooting after the mother honked her horn.
Brandon Lee Bond, 24, was taken into custody after he allegedly opened fire on the woman, 22-year-old Ava Woodcock, after she honked her horn following a ‘domestic incident’, Monday afternoon.
Woodcock pulled into the parking lot of Annie’s Restaurant in Glasgow, Kentucky, and blew her horn. That’s when Bond crossed the street and opened fire on the vehicle, adding that the circumstances that led up to the shooting were under investigation.
Kentucky man had been drinking all day when he shot at woman honking horn at him
The vehicle continued until it crashed, and there were conflicting reports as to whether Woodcock remained inside the vehicle or got out after being shot. Bond fled the scene while armed but was discovered in a wooded area near a recycling company and taken into custody according to a press release from the Glasgow Police Department.
Bond had been drinking alcohol throughout the day and was described as ‘very uncooperative’ after being arrested, with jail officials telling WBKO that he had to be restrained and housed separately overnight.
Woodcock was taken to a hospital in Louisville, where she died on Tuesday. The child died shortly after the shooting.
Shooter and victim were romantically involved and graduated same school
While authorities declined to say whether Bond knew the victim, given that he was charged with domestic violence, images found on the victim’s social media account showed images of the two of them together, suggesting that Bond and Woodcock were in some kind of relationship or dynamic.
Not immediately clear is whether Bond was the father of the unborn child killed during Monday’s shooting.
Bond set at $2M as GoFundme fundraiser launched
Following the death of the Woodcock and her unborn child, Bond was charged with murder (domestic violence), fetal homicide, fleeing or evading police. Bond was set at $2M following a Wednesday court arraignment.
A GoFundMe has been launched to support burial efforts for Woodcock and her unborn child. Woodcock leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter.
