A Hartford, Connecticut woman found dead at her Belten street residence Friday night was shot and killed at the hands of her former girlfriend.
Authorities responded around 9:30 p.m. April 24 to 62 Belden St. on a report of an unresponsive female, WSFB reported citing local police. The woman, later identified as Keishla Claudio, 33, of Hartford, was pronounced dead at the scene from an injury that was later identified to be a gunshot wound.
A person of interest was identified in the case, though officers said she were later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound out of state.
Domestic violence related murder-suicide
Hartford police described the tragedy as domestic violence related murder-suicide.
Authorities declined to say what led to the ex being targeted.
Keishla was mourned by her friends and family online, with a GoFundMe established for her funeral expenses.
‘Keishla was a very loving and caring person. She loved to live life, always made time for her siblings and her kids, and found joy in working with children,’ Claudio’s mother, Denise Colon, said in the fundraiser.
Colon identified the alleged perpetrator as her daughter’s ex-girlfriend in her post.
‘This unimaginable loss has left our family heartbroken and struggling to cope with the reality of her absence. We are now facing the difficult task of arranging her burial and finding ways to support her children during this painful time,’ she said, with a goal of $9,000 for the campaign.
