Katheryn Bigbee, Piedmont Elementary School student in Alabama found dead in homicide at home in Calhoun County as juvenile is charged with missing girl’s murder.
Alabama authorities have arrested a juvenile individual with the ‘homicide-death’ of a 10-year-old girl who was found dead just before 11p.m, Friday night at an undisclosed residential address according to the Piedmont Police Department.
Katheryn Bigbee a student at Piedmont Elementary School had been reported missing when the ten year old girl was found deceased in Calhoun County.
Discovery of Bigbee’s death led to ‘another juvenile being taken into custody and charged with murder,’ according to Chief Nathan Johnson, AL.com reported.

Not immediately clear is when the 10-year-old was initially reported missing and what led to her discovery at the undisclosed residence.
Chief Johnson said the investigation is ongoing, with no further details released due to the case’s nature and juvenile involvement.

‘We ask that you keep the family affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.’
Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown state over the weekend he was unable to release a cause of death amid ongoing investigations.

Shared Piedmont Elementary School in a release in part: ‘We are heartbroken to share the loss of one of our precious students, Katheryn Bigbee,’ the school wrote, adding that Katheryn’s ‘joyful, spunky personality’ and enthusiasm for reading will be fondly remembered.
‘Our entire Piedmont Elementary School family is grieving as we remember a sweet little girl who brought smiles, kindness, and a bright light to our halls each day.’
School officials say grief counselors will be available for students and staff as the community copes with the loss.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are releasing limited information.
