Sincere Elijah Hardy, Salem, Virginia man charged in fatal shooting of Kimberly Sue Lee outside Roanoke convenience store. No known motive. 

Virginia authorities have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection to a deadly shooting outside a convenience store in Roanoke over the weekend.

Sincere Elijah Hardy of Salem, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 56-year-old woman, Kimberly Sue Lee, who was declared dead at the scene according to a Facebook release from the Roanoke Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a fatal shooting at 9:50 a.m., March 1, 2026, at the 1600 block of Burrell Street NW. When they arrived, they located a woman with gunshot wound injuries who later died at the scene.

No known motive

‘The swift and coordinated efforts of our staff, combined with the invaluable support of our community through calls and investigative cooperation, led to the successful apprehension of the suspect,’ said Chief Scott Booth. ‘Mrs. Lee was a well-known presence along Orange Avenue, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew her.’

Not immediately clear is what led up to the shooting and whether the victim knew the victim prior to being shot or whether the gun violence was a random episode.
