Jared Scott Jeremy Stoller, Roseburg, Oregon man admits killing 11-month-old son, Jackson James Stoller and dumping boy’s body in river after initially reporting infant missing. Death follows child custody and support involving boy’s mother.

An Oregon man allegedly confessed killing his infant son and dumping the boy’s body in a river after initially reporting the 11-month-old boy missing.

Jared Scott Jeremy Stoller, 27, of Roseburg, called 911 on Sunday, March 15, to report that his 11-month-old son, Jackson James Stoller, was missing from their hotel room in Sutherlin, Ore., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office stated according to a release.

When police arrived at the hotel, they determined there were ‘suspicious circumstances involved,’ according to the sheriff’s office.

Roseburg, Oregon dad’s story doesn’t add up before admitting killing infant son

‘Stoller was interviewed by detectives from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and eventually confessed that he had murdered Jackson days earlier at a location in Roseburg,’ the sheriff’s office said. ‘Stoller told detectives that he had disposed of the child’s body in the South Umpqua River.’

He later led police to the very spot where he dumped the baby’s corpse.

Authorities subsequently searched the nearby river and divers located the 11-month old boy’s body later that evening.

The sheriff’s office has not given a cause of death, noting that an autopsy had not been completed.

Motive unknown thought to be linked to child custody and support to mother

Stoller is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree abuse of a corpse, authorities said. It is not immediately clear if he has entered a plea.

Authorities to date declined to share a motive in the infant boy’s death.

If he is convicted by a jury, Jared faces lifetime imprisonment.

According to court records accessed by USMagazine , Jared had been ordered to pay the boy’s mother child support in 2025. But it wasn’t clear why the boy was in his custody or why he had booked a hotel room only 20 miles from his home.
