John Ezzell, Plainfield, Connecticut man shoots & kills terminally ill wife, Christine Ezzell, the self in murder-suicide after calling cops to say he would leave the door open for them.
A Plainfield, Connecticut man shot and killed his wife of 39 years, Monday night before turning the murder weapon on himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
John Ezzell, 62, called Plainfield police just on 7 p.m. on Monday, in which he said his wife had terminal cancer and that he intended to take her life and then his own. The spouse said that he would leave the doors of the residence open for responding officers.

Upon arrival, cops found two people dead inside the home on Kate Downing Road with apparent gunshot wounds. John Ezzell, 62, and his wife Christine Ezzell, 62, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered a firearm from the home according to a Facebook release from the Plainfield Police Department.
John and Christine Ezzell were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy and further examination.
The Ezzells, married since about 1987, had shared a devoted life. In a 2020 Facebook post marking their 33rd anniversary on April 4, Christine wrote: ’33 Years ago today. Happy Anniversary John. Love you ♡♡ Look how young we all looked.’
Plainfield is located roughly 150 miles northeast of New York City.
