Elvia Johnson San Bernardino, California woman wanted in shooting death of Tasha Montgomery after shooting single mom in the back after walking away from fight.

California investigators are seeking to arrest a woman accused of shooting and killing another woman earlier this month in San Bernardino, police said Wednesday.

Officers were initially notified of a ‘physical altercation’ involving multiple people on West Concord Street near Medical Center Drive at around 5 p.m. on Feb. 1. But by the time cops arrived at the scene, matters had become deadly.

It was while the victim, described as a 19-year-old single mom, Niliyah Montgomery was walking away after the fight ending, 21-year-old suspect, Elvia Johnson, is alleged to have entered a car and fired at the single mom, striking her in the back and killing her, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. Montgomery was taken to a hospital but later died.

Single mom had come back home to start new life

‘My baby come running into my arms saying, ‘Mom.’ With blood coming out her mouth,’ the victim’s mother, Tasha Montgomery, told CBS News. ‘She was everything to me. That’s my child, my firstborn. She made me a mother.’

Montgomery was the single mother of a 3-year-old girl, according to her mother, who said her daughter had returned to school to better her life after dropping out when she was pregnant.

Johnson, who has an active warrant for her arrest, is armed and dangerous, police warned.

What had started as an argument between Montgomery and her friend escalated to a physical altercation involving a number of individuals, leading to the fatal shooting of the single mom, which according to police took place outside the victim’s home.

Anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts was urged to contact the San Bernardino Police Department’s homicide unit.

San Bernardino is located about 60 miles east of Los Angeles in California.
