A husband and father of three young children has died after being shot dead after an argument erupting over a parking spot at a Savannah, Georgia area Target parking lot over the weekend.

Tyler Edward Linn, 30, is alleged to have shot and killed Matthew Traywick after the two men getting into an argument over a parking spot at the Abercorn Street Target store on Sunday.

Officers with the Savannah Police Department were called out to n the 14000 block of Abercorn Street just on 4.10 p.m. where they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Authorities said Traywick died from his injuries at Memorial Health.

Husband and father of 3 shot dead by former military man over Target parking spot

Tyler Linn was charged with murder and aggravated assault according to Chatham County jail records. 

According to officials, Linn remained on the scene after allegedly shooting the father of three, WSAV reported.

Stated the victim’s former employer, Vaden Automotive, in a social media post; ‘We are heartbroken by the loss of Matthew Traywick. Matthew was a valued member of the Vaden family for years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, and those closest to him during this incredibly difficult time. We ask for privacy for his family and our team as we grieve this tragic loss.’ 

An official with the 3rd Infantry Division confirmed to WTOC that Linn previously served in the Army from August 2015 to October 2023. He was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah as an unmanned aircraft systems repairer from December 2021 until he left his service in October 2023 with the rank of specialist.

Gun violence lamented and GoFundme launched for family

Savannah’s Mayor Van Johnson spoke out after this shooting, saying in part, ‘No disagreement over a parking space, or anything else should ever end in the loss of life. This needless, unnecessary violence underscores the daily pain felt by families across our city and the urgency of our collective work to reduce gun violence and strengthen community safety.’

A GoFundMe was started on behalf of the victim’s wife, Micayla Traywick and children to help during their time of bereavement.
