A 30-year-old Manchester woman died after driving the wrong way along Route 5/15 South in Wethersfield late Saturday night and crashing into a SUV vehicle driving in the opposite direction, Connecticut State Police said.

What led to 30 year old Manchester woman driving wrong way?

Investigators learned that a 2017 Toyota Camry operated by Wendy Lara of Knighton Street, Manchester was traveling the wrong way on Route 5/15, going north in the southbound lanes. State police said the vehicle collided head-on with a 2025 Honda Prologue Tour SUV going south.

Lara sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital by EMS, where she later died, FOX61 reported.

The driver and passenger of the southbound SUV vehicle, both from Rocky Hill, suffered suspected minor injuries and were also transported to Hartford Hospital, police said. Both vehicles sustained disabling front-end damage and were towed from the scene, according to police.

No charges have been announced, and the cause of Lara driving the wrong way has not been determined.
