Randall Spivey and Brandon Billmaier, Fort Myers, Florida missing boaters fail to return after going on fishing trip as their boat is recovered two days later but with no sign of the uncle and nephew.
Are they still alive? Florida authorities have launched a search operation for an uncle and his nephew lost at sea after the two men failed to return from a fishing trip on Friday according to Florida authorities.
Randall Spivey, 57, and Brandon Billmaier, 33, set out on a boating outing off the coast of Fort Myers, early Friday morning just on 6.30 a.m.
According to relatives the uncle and nephew planned to go fishing 100 miles offshore and had anticipated returning later that day around 5.30 p.m. Except never to return.
Desperate search for missing uncle and nephew Fort Myers fishermen duo
‘The two left early yesterday morning for a fishing trip on a 42FT Freeman boat from a residence on the 15000 block of Intracoastal Ct in Fort Myers,’ the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) wrote on Facebook.
A search was made for the two missing men with the U.S. Coast Guard reporting their fishing boat being recovered 70 miles off the coast, Sunday lunchtime, but with no sign of the missing two men, according to FOX4.
Crews had been deployed both in air and sea, ‘working day and night’ in a race against time to find the two missing boaters the Coast Guard stated.
Spivey is personal injury attorney who is president and founder of the Spivey Law Firm. Billmaier is also an attorney who lives in Weston, according to family. Spivey is Billmaier’s uncle.
Hope and determination to bring two missing boaters back home
Tricia Spivey, Randall’s wife, speaking to FOX4 said her husband is safety conscious and had fished for more than 30 years.
‘It’s been a nightmare, feels like I’m in a horror movie,’ Deborah told the outlet. ‘When I got the call from the Coast Guard saying they found the boat and no one was on board, I don’t even know, I think I blacked out for a couple seconds.’
Spivey, 57, is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 6 feet 1 inches, weighs 245 pounds and was last seen wearing khaki pants and a dark-colored shirt. Billmaier, pictured right, is a 6-foot-2 man with strawberry hair and brown eyes.
