A woman in Florida is accused of having ‘intentionally’ placed the hands of two young children in her care on a griddle after the children asked for more food.

Jeny Soto-Duenas, 52, of Fort Walton Beach, upon her arrest on Tuesday was charged with two counts of child neglect with great bodily harm following the alleged episode.

The episode which allegedly took place at a trailer home in Florida’s Panhandle district, Tuesday morning, led to the two children, ages 3 and 5 years old, with suspected second- and third-degree burns to their hands according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Caretaker was ‘frustrated’ that 3 year old 5 year old had asked for more food

The woman is alleged to have confessed to a family member that she had intentionally placed both of the victims’ hands on a hot griddle and held them down because she was frustrated with them for asking for more food after they had already eaten. She then failed to take them for medical attention, WEAR-TV reported.

OCSO deputies responded to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Hospital around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night after two children were seen with severe, untreated burns on their palms.

Deputies say the children were transported to the USA Burn Center in Mobile, Alabama, for treatment.

Jeny Soto Duenas is currently being held without bond at the Okaloosa County Jail. She is also on hold for ICE.

Investigators have not said what led to the ‘caretaker’ being placed on ICE hold.
