Rafael Novaes and Beatriz de Campos Maia Miami Airport fiasco sees two passengers running late for Mexico flight assaulting airport security as they tried to force their way onto American Airlines flight. 

Define airport etiquette? A couple late for their Mexico flight were arrested at Miami International Airport after allegedly attacking airport security, as they attempted to force their way onto their plane over the weekend.

Rafael Seirafe-Novaes and Beatriz Rapoport De Campos Maia were running late for their flight to Cancun on Sunday when they got into a heated altercation with airport staff, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told NBC Miami.

During the fray, one of the suspects threw a coffee in the face of an American Airlines employee as the couple demanded being allowed to make their way to the departing plane, according to officials.

Airport etiquette or the lack of

Video of the incident obtained by CBS Miami shows several police cars responding to the tarmac next to American Flight 2494 just before takeoff.

About six Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputies responded to the fight, according to the outlet.

Video shared on social media showed cops tackling the man to the ground as they arrested him outside the gate – with Rafael Novaes eventually hauled off to a cop car.

A second video revealed the female passenger being grabbed by an officer and forced to sit down while the other cops arrested her partner.

Seirafe-Novaes was charged with resisting an officer without violence and trespassing, while Maia was charged with two counts of battery and trespassing.

American Airlines told CBS News Miami: ‘Prior to boarding American Airlines flight 2494from Miami (MIA) to Cancun (CUN), law enforcement responded to the gate for two disruptive customers. Acts of violence are not tolerated by American Airlines and we are committed to working closely with law enforcement in their investigation.’
