Tranyelle Harshman, Byron, Big Horn County, Wyoming woman suffering mental health crises shoots her four daughters, killing three before shooting self dead in murder-suicide. Woman’s husband, Cliff, says wife was dealing with PTSD and postpartum depression.
A Wyoming mother is alleged to have shot her four daughters, killing three, and leaving one young girl in serious condition before fatally shooting herself in an apparent murder-suicide.
Tranyelle Harshman, 32, the girls’ mother is alleged to have called 911 moments after shooting the girls, notifying authorities their bodies would be found at the family’s residence in Byron, Wyoming before using the murder weapon on herself.
Harshman called 911 on Monday afternoon to report that her four daughters had been shot along with telling the dispatcher where the girls were located in the house before abruptly cutting the call according to the Big Horn County Sheriff’s office. It remained unclear if the mom confessed to shooting her daughters.
Wyoming mom had been experiencing extreme mental health crises
When officers arrived, they discovered the girls with gunshot wounds to their heads, along with their mother, who had apparently turned the gun on herself, KRTV reported.
Despite efforts to save the parent’s life, the mother would be declared dead at a nearby hospital shortly after.
Only one of the girls, a 7-year-old, survived. Her three sisters — a 9-year-old and two 2-year-olds born less than a year apart — were killed, according to MTN News.
The tragedy follows Harshman receiving treatment for severe mental health issues, including PTSD and postpartum depression, the woman’s husband, Cliff Harshman told Cowboy State Daily.
‘My wife is not a monster,’ the spouse told the outlet. ‘Most people don’t understand how that affects the brain. It’s a chemical imbalance … And it can be exacerbated by trying to fix it with medication.’

Cliff Harshman is the biological father of the two youngest victims and had been helping raise the older two — one of whom is now clinging to life in a Salt Lake City hospital.
Friends launched a Kickstarter fundraiser to help pay her medical bills.
‘Cliff Harshman, a devoted husband and father of four beautiful daughters, has suffered an unimaginable loss,’ the fundraiser’s page reads. To date over $88K has been raised.
