A Florida man prohibited from contacting his 4 year old daughter or her mother was arrested on Sunday after earlier that day kidnapping the 4 year old girl and fatally gunning down her mother along with 2 others in Broward County

Nathan Gingles, 43, is alleged to have fatally shot Mary Gingles, 34, and kidnapped their 4-year-old daughter, Seraphina Gingles, in Tamarac. The girl’s kidnapping led to an Amber Alert being issued.

A neighbor said Gingles also fatally shot another man, since identified as Mary Gingles’s father, 64-year-old David Ponzer, and the nephew of a neighboring homeowner near North Plumbay Parkway and Nob Hill Road who had sought to intercede in the girl’s abduction from her mother’s home.

The neighbor pointed to footprints on the ground saying one set belonged to Seraphine’s 34-year-old mother who ran door to door desperately asking for help, WPLG reported.

Soon after an Amber Alert being issued, detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office reported ‘locating’ Nathan Gingles and the abducted 4 year old at the parking lot of a Walmart Supercenter at 7900 West McNab Road, in North Lauderdale.

A vehicle with Texas licence plates at the store parking lot belonging to Nathan Gingles had the following inscription, ‘U.S. Army Honorably Discharged.’

The wanted man was arrested without incident at the outlet and now faces three counts of first degree murder. Gingles also faces additional charges, including violating an injunction relating to not having contact with the child or child’s mother, and interfering with custody of a minor, NBC6 reported.

Along with Mary Gingles, the identity of the second fatality was released as Andrew Ferrin, FOX8 reported.

Relatives of the victim said that Mary Gingles had knocked on neighboring doors when the victim answered the door only to be shot by Nathan Gingles

‘It’s unimaginable,’ Ferrin’s uncle told NBC6. ‘A woman was in the neighborhood knocking on actual doors, and my nephew who was home happened to open the door for her.’

History of domestic violence

Court documents revealed that Gingles and the mother of the 4 year old were in the process of getting a divorce at the time of the mother’s shooting death.

Along with petitioning for a divorce, the mother had also filed no less than two domestic violence claims against her husband in family court last year, with an order of protection being granted earlier this year.

In one alleged episode, documents described the couple’s daughter watching Nathan Gingles dragging Mary up the stairs while in a chokehold early 2024.

Documents also described the husband allegedly ‘sang songs about killing his wife.’

The pair had been scheduled to appear at a hearing on March 19.

Court documents indicated the pair both receiving military benefits and Mary Gingles reportedly working as an IT support specialist for a law firm and Nathan Gingles for General Dynamics.
