Meagon Dixon, Meridian, California trailer mom suffocates 11 year old son to death during drug binge as parent now faces series of charges.
A 44 year old California woman is accused of suffocating her 11 year old son to death after the missing boy’s body was found in a trailer at an RV park over the weekend.
Meagon Dixon of Meridian, Sutter County, was charged with child endangerment, child abuse and homicide following the macabre discovery Sunday morning.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said it was called to Lovey’s Landing at about 10 a.m. Sunday for a woman under the influence of drugs and causing a disturbance, KOVR reported. Once there, they found the boy and a dog inside a trailer.
‘sweetest little boy, just absolutely loving.’
Investigators said the boy had been suffocated, and they believe he had been dead for several days before he was found according to Sutter County Sheriff Brandon Barnes.
In a Monday press conference, Barnes says deputies responded to the RV park around 10 a.m. Sunday on a report of a verbal altercation between residents. The dispute started after neighbors tried to check on Dixon’s 11-year-old son, who had not been seen outside playing for several days.
Neighbors told deputies the boy was home schooled and may have had autism. One neighbor who says her sons were close to the 11-year-old described him to KOVR/KMAX as the ‘sweetest little boy, just absolutely loving.’
Barnes offered condolences to the victim’s loved ones and to those in the community impacted by his death. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine his official cause and manner of death.
Preliminary evidence suggests the boy had been smothered by a pillow KCRA3 reported.
Three dogs were also found dead on the property, Barnes says. One was in the trailer and two were in a vehicle registered to Dixon. Postmortem exams will be conducted to determine their causes of death.
Bail for the parent was set at $1 million. No motive was immediately known.
