A Louisiana man is accused of having stolen thousands of dollars worth of children’s Christmas presents leading up to the recent holidays along with the theft of firearms.

Dwayne Blair Jr. now faces multiple charges, including burglary felony in Jefferson Parish and in Mississippi.

Westwego police say they were contacted by detectives from Forrest County, Mississippi, after several residential burglaries were reported in December.

The Christmas Grinch that came to Westwego

Those burglaries resulted in the theft of several thousand dollars’ worth of children’s Christmas gifts, electronics and firearms across three separate incidents, according to a Facebook release from the Westwego Police Department.

A break in the case came when Westwego detectives were able to track the location of one of the victim’s iPads to a house in Westwego. Detectives were also given an image of a vehicle captured by another victim as the suspect fled the scene in Mississippi.

Blair was arrested last week and faces one count of illegal possession of stolen property valued at $2,500 or more, three counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators determined Dwayne Blair Jr. was the suspect in the burglaries, but he had fled the Westwego home before detectives arrived on the scene, until his eventual arrest last week, WDSU reported.

Blair will also face charges in Mississippi for his involvement in the burglaries.

Blair’s arrest follows the arrest of a Georgia ‘Gringe-like’ man who was arrested last month, for allegedly breaking into a Georgia elementary school, and stealing children’s Christmas gifts.
