Priyanka Sewhani, Oyster Bay, NY woman id as the 32 year old female passenger who inexplicably jumped from a moving Uber vehicle over the weekend along the LIE only to be killed. Had she wanted to die?
New York authorities have identified a 32-year-old Long Island woman as the Uber passenger who was killed after ‘jumping’ from the moving ride-share car only to be struck by another vehicle along the Long Island Expressway.
Priyanka Sewhani, of Oyster Bay, was pronounced dead at the scene early Saturday morning, circa 1.40am, after she ‘exited’ a 2019 Volkswagen Passat traveling eastbound while sitting in the backseat, police said.
After Sewhani left the car near the Kissena Boulevard exit near Flushing, she was ‘unknowingly’ hit by another vehicle in the left lane, authorities said.
What led to 32 year old Uber passenger driving out of moving vehicle?
The owner of the vehicle that struck Sewhani continued driving, unaware that they had struck Sewhani, as the woman then came to be struck by ‘multiple’ vehicles as she lay on the LIE, ABC7NY reported.
The Uber driver only identified as a 45 year old male remained at the scene People Mag reported.
Authorities have yet to understand what led to the woman leaping from the moving vehicle.
‘The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made,’ a spokesman told the dailymail.
Authorities did not disclose whether a toxicology test would be conducted to see if the woman was on any substances or under the influence.
All four eastbound lanes were closed temporarily in the aftermath of the incident so the NYPD highway patrol could investigate the nypost reported.
Uber have since pledged to assist in any probe in the woman’s death.
‘We’re holding the rider’s loved ones in our hearts in the wake of this horrific tragedy,’ the ride-app company said in a statement. ‘We stand ready to support law enforcement with their investigation however we can.’
The woman’s relatives to date have not publicly commented.
