Mekeshia Lattimore charged in the stabbing murder of her mother, Minnie Lewis as she sat in a recliner at her Middletown, Ohio home. Neighbors left shocked as they search for answers.
A 44 year old Ohio woman is accused of standing over her 72 year old mother and stabbing her to death as she sat in a recliner.
Mekeshia Lattimore is alleged to have stood over her 72 year old mother Minnie Lewis as she sat in a recliner at her Middletown home, Wednesday night, 11.30 pm, before her daughter stabbed her multiple times.
The victim’s son who witnessed the unfolding incident said he saw his sister stand up and make her way towards their mother with her hand and arm moving in a stabbing motion as the 72 year old sat in a recliner, the Journal-News reported.
‘She was a God fearing woman’
The son said he got Lattimore off his mother and saw ‘blood coming from the victim’s neck.’ She had stab wounds on the head, face and neck, an arrest affidavit stated.
The victim was was transported to the Atrium Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased, Middletown Police said according to a Facebook release.
Lattimore was found at the scene on 14th Avenue and taken into custody for murder, police wrote.
Lattimore, who refused to talk with detectives, has been charged with murder. Bond was set at $1 million.
Neighbors responding to the mother’s murder said they were in shock and described the 72 year old as a ‘lovely’ woman, WLWT reported.
Reflected another neighbor, ‘what made her snap, I don’t know.’
Neighbors told the outlet that the daughter had some mental health issues but were in disbelief that she would stab her own mother.
Minnie Lewis according to neighbors was described as being a ‘God fearing person.’
No known murder motive was immediately known. Lattimore had been slated to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 1.
