Brianna Burley-Inners, South Williamsport, Pennsylvania woman id as Muncy, Target worker killed in work place accident after getting caught between man lift she was operating and inner door frame. Was worker safety protocol in place?
A Pennsylvania Target worker was crushed to death last over the weekend after getting caught between a man lift she had been operating & a door frame.
Brianna Burley-Inners, 26, of South Williamsport, PA, who worked at the Muncy Target outlet on South Lycoming Mall Road was working on the security system in the ceiling when she died, according to State Trooper Lauren Lesher.
Co-workers told police they last saw Burley-Inners alive around 11:30 p.m, Saturday night. At midnight, as the employees were getting ready to clock out, the lead employee radioed Burley-Inners to ask if she was on her way.
A preventable death?
After not getting a response, they went to check for her, Lesher said. The worker was found hunched over on a man lift, with her body caught between the man lift and the door frame/wall, police said. The workers lowered the machine so they could perform CPR, but after EMS arrived, they determined Burley-Inners was deceased.
The woman was using the lift near the pharmacy to clean the lenses of security cameras near the ceiling when she was pinned and crushed to death, Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. said Monday.
Somehow Burley-Inners became pinned between the piece of equipment and the door frame, Kiessling said. The accident was not witnessed by any other employees in the store, which was closed at the time the sungazette reported.
It’s not clear how the workplace accident occurred and what work place safety mandates were in place, if any, when Burley-Inners was killed.
Authorities said there are no signs of suspicious activity.
Target declined to comment on the worker’s death.
