Ashley Rowland Oklahoma mother gives 2 year old daughter away for meth. Child remains missing 2 years after alleged drug deal after parent previously saying girl was with her father in Georgia.
An Oklahoma woman is alleged to have given her 2 year old daughter away in exchange for meth. The girl’s present whereabouts is not known following the drug deal which took place more than two years ago according to the toddler’s mother.
Amid an ongoing investigation, the missing child’s mother, Ashley Rowland, 39, was last week arrested by the Moore Police Department and charged with child abandonment.
Mom admits she was on drugs when she exchanged daughter for meth
Oklahoma authorities continue to search for the missing child and the alleged drug dealer, KOTV reported.
Court documents state that the Oklahoma Department of Human Services attempted to take the child in April 2023, only to be unable to locate the child, according to KOCO. The agency located Rowland at a house in Moore, and she told them that the girl was ‘with her father in Georgia.’
Investigators eventually learned that wasn’t true, and police interviewed Rowland, who now claimed having given the child to a man going by the name of ‘Carlos,’ who sold her drugs.
The parent alleges not having seen the man nor her daughter since April 2022. She also said ‘Carlos’ might be the girl’s father, but she wasn’t sure.
Rowland didn’t know his last name and could only provide a general description but said she thought he might be going to Mexico.
The parent admitted she was on drugs when she gave her daughter to Carlos, KFOR reported.
DHS said it could not comment on the case but said the situation was ‘heartbreaking and unimaginable.’
The missing child would now be 5 years old. Moore Police continue to seek the missing girl’s whereabouts, while acknowledging the girl may not even be alive.
