Fake phony press and VIP passes led to search revealing illegal arms and weapons
‘We probably stopped another assassination attempt,’ said Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco to SCNG.
Miller was intercepted by police at a checkpoint about a half-mile from the rally entrance. Miller was found carrying a fake phony press and VIP passes.
‘They were different enough to cause the deputies alarm,’ Bianco said, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
The arrest took place at a checkpoint at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive in Coachella at 4:59 p.m. on Saturday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said. The rally was scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
Miller came to the attention of authorities after he presented fake VIP and press passes at the checkpoint, which is led to a search and the eventual discovery of un-authorized arms.
Following his arrest on weapons violations, Miller was taken into custody without incident and booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine.
Far right activist and anti-government proponent
According to the Riverside County Inmate Information System, Miller was released from the detention center Sunday on $5,000 bail.
The Sheriff’s Office said the incident had no impact on the safety of rally attendees or former President Trump.
Miller is believed to be a member of a rightwing anti-government organization, according to Bianco, who now believes he was plotting to kill Trump.
Miller according to reports has a UCLA Masters degree, and in 2022 ran for Nevada State assembly.
According to his Linkldn profile, Miller is the Partner co-Founder of the America Happens Network.
Miller is scheduled to appear in court on January 2.
