A woman and two of her children, ages 4 and 2 years old were found shot to death in their Texas home on Sunday. A third child, 8 months old, was wounded and was reported to be in stable condition.
Tatyanna Smith, 25; Madilynn Evans, 4; and Maison Evans, 2, were found deceased at the family Bullard home, KETK reported. The baby was identified as Lyric Minter, who was taken to a hospital in Tyler in critical condition on Sunday and later transferred to a facility in Dallas, The Tyler Morning Telegraph stated.
Officers were called to the residence just before 7 p.m. Sunday following reports of gunshots. Smith and the two older children were pronounced dead at the scene.
Person of interest questioned
Detectives were investigating the crime scene as a triple homicide and were in contact with a person of interest, according to KETK. The identity of the person of interest and their relationship to the victims was not publicly known.
‘We’ve spoken with numerous individuals surrounding the case,’ Bullard Police Chief Jeff Bragg told reporters on Tuesday. ‘We’re trying to inform everybody as much as possible, as much as we can, without hindering the investigation.’
Police said the case is an ongoing investigation and that there was no threat to the public. The bodies were taken to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas where investigators are waiting on autopsy results.
No known murder motive was immediately divulged.
A GoFundMe campaign has since been organized for the family of the Evans children. The fundraiser is organized by Ashley Robertson, who is the sister of Thomas Evans Sr., who is the father of Madilynn and Maison. The fundraiser aims to raise $30,000 to cover unexpected funeral costs and other expenses as the family navigates this loss.
