How did Seikaya Jones end up dead in a suitcase at Huntington Station, Long Island? Suffolk County Police explore crime scene and await results of autopsy as they seek to find the individual who they believe killed her and left her body abandoned in luggage.

Suffolk County Police have identified the female body found stuffed in a suitcase in Huntington Station, Long Island, earlier this week.

The body of Seikaya Jones, 31, was found in a wooded area next to 320 Nassau Rd. around 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday.

The woman’s decaying remains were discovered in the luggage next to an apartment complex in Huntington Station after locals complained of a foul odor, the Suffolk County Police Department confirmed in a press release on Thursday.

Unanswered questions

Jones’ cause of death will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office amid mystery as to what exactly happened to her —  how she came to die and who dragged her body to the spot where she was found.

Police have yet to establish how how long Jones’ body was there for or how long ago Jones had been dead.

‘She was the nicest person, so bubbly, so happy,’ friend Mary Waldron told ABC7NY. ‘She would’ve done anything for anyone, why would someone do this?’

Jones was reported missing by police back on Aug. 16, but residents on Nassau Road say there is a video circulating that was taken on Friday where Jones can be seen in a hallway prior to her slain body being found.

Residents say the video shows her following a man who lives there whose apartment was searched Wednesday night.

A resident at the apartment complex told media that she heard a woman screaming around 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Authorities are hoping to answer key questions about the victim and find her killer, who is still at large.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy on the victim to determine her cause of death.
