Ryszard Murawski, Lindenhurst, Long Island man pleads guilty to stabbing wife to death, in front of teen son, a week after victim, Wioleta Murawski got restraining order against husband.

A Long Island man has pled guilty to fatally stabbing his wife in front of their teen son at their Lindenhurst backyard earlier this year, Suffolk County prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

Ryszard Murawski, 44, of Lindenhurst, pled guilty to murder and is expected to be sentenced to 22 years to life in prison according to a release.

According to court documents, at approximately 8:33 p.m. on Jan. 3, Suffolk County Police received a 911 call from the couple’s 15-year-old son stating that his father, Ryszard Murawski, had stabbed his mother, Wioleta Murawski, before fleeing in a black GMC pick-up truck.

‘Tragic case of domestic violence’

During the call, the teen begged the police for help as he tried to save his mother’s life. He informed police that when he returned home from his friend’s house, he heard his mother screaming for help in the backyard.

He said that he then ran to the backyard where he saw Ryszard Murawski stabbing his mother with a large, serrated knife, Audacy reported.

The boy jumped on his father and struggled with him until his mother was able to break free, officials said.

Wioleta Murawski was able to stumble across the street before collapsing with her son by her side, police said.

The parent was rushed to Good Samaritan University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, News12 previously reported.

During attempts to pull over the fleeing father, Murawski continued to drive, prompting a police chase. Multiple police units pursued Ryszard Murawski for over seven miles with lights and sirens before he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the side of a building.

Murawski’s home surveillance system captured the brutal attack on his wife.

‘The sheer horror that young man must have felt to witness his mother being attacked is unfathomable,’ Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said during the father’s January 18th indictment. ‘The brutality of this defendant’s alleged actions are only made worse by the fact that he attacked the mother of his child in front of that child. Now, he will be held to account for his actions.’

He is due back in court on Oct. 17.

Of note, the victim had an order of protection issued a week before she was killed by her estranged husband, prosecutors said.

‘This is a tragic case of domestic violence that ended with the senseless death of Wioleta Murawski and horrific trauma to their child. This defendant will now have to pay for his actions in prison,’ Tierney said in a release.
