Probably not the parent of the year …. A Memphis, Tennessee mother is accused of pushing her son out of a moving car and stabbing him with a screwdriver after picking up the boy from school, Tuesday afternoon.
Miriam Castillo, 44, following her arrest was charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect as well as domestic assault.
The victim told police his mother was driving recklessly after she picked him up from Hickory Ridge Middle School and tried to push him out of the vehicle. Police said Castillo was on her way to pick up her daughter from Newberry Elementary when the attack happened.
The child said he called his father, who told him to take the keys out of the ignition when the car came to a stop. The boy said he tried to grab the keys, but his mother bit him on his hand and arm and stabbed him in the leg with a screwdriver, police said.
But there was more.
Witnesses said the boy’s mom got out of the car on Newberry Avenue and began chasing her son around her vehicle. One woman said the boy was yelling, ‘She is trying to kill me,’ with the female witness assisting the boy, WREG reported.
Police said Castillo had a strong odor of alcohol and admitted she had been drinking. Officers said they were unable to get a statement from Castillo about the incident because she was under the influence.
