Jose Olmos Amarillo, Texas murder suicide: Husband shoots dead wife, Jessica Olmos and her two kids despite previous order of protection amid domestic violence issues.
An Amarillo, Texas man is alleged to have shot dead his wife, their two children and then self in a suspect murder suicide over the weekend.
Police were called to the 3600 block of NE 14th Avenue in Amarillo early on Saturday evening after a family member found the bodies of Jose David Olmos his wife Jessica Rose Olmos, 33, and their children Jazele and Daniel Garcia. Jessica and her two kids suffered multiple gun shot wounds and died at the scene KFOX14 reported.
The violent acts follow the 42-year-old electrician father/husband being previously arrested by Amarillo Police on May 19 on charges of assaulting a family member (wife, Jessica Olmos) and the spouse, Jessica Olmos being granted an order of protection against her husband.
Arrest documents stated Olmos struck murder victim and his wife Jessica Olmos with his hand and was ordered not to have any contact with Jessica nor the two kids in their house and to take an alcohol education course.
At the time, Olmos was released after making $500 bond after having pled guilty to assault causing bodily injury and family violence KAMR reported.
A mugshot taken at the time showed Olmos with ’scratch marks’ on his face.
Nevertheless, it appeared despite the restraining order, wife, Jessica had made entreaties to try to make their marriage work, My High Plains reported.
‘Jessica had recently returned back to the home to reconcile the marriage to try to make it better and the children also lived in the home at the time,’ said Lt. James Clements, Amarillo Police Department homicide unit commander told the outlet.
Lt. Clements said the gun that was used did not belong to Jose Olmos, it actually belonged to Jessica and he was not supposed to have access to a gun.
Lt. Clements added the children belonged to Jessica and he said Jose had no relation to the children at all.
Notice of the murder-suicide led to one family friend, Clara Nunez writing on Facebook, ‘Oh Jessica Olmos! I’m sorry that I couldn’t help you out of this!’
‘Jazale and Daniel are amazing kids. I promise you that I’ll do everything in my power to make sure that you’ll be remembered forever. It doesn’t end here I promise!’
While family member, Arianna Olmos, wrote: ‘Yesterday I received one of the worst calls I could receive. When I was told 3 of the most caring souls I knew gained their angel wings my heart sunk and broke into pieces. I can’t even put into words how hurt I am.’
The couple who marked their tenth wedding anniversary on July 4 had lived at Olmos’s address since their marriage.
Jessica worked as an office manager for Jeff Bara State Farm Agency in the town and her 7th grade daughter was a keen wrestler.
Just months earlier the family had posed for a seemingly idyllic photoshoot in the fields near their home, and photographer Anna Vega spoke of her shock at their violent deaths.
‘I am so devastated by the news this morning,’ she wrote as she reposted the pictures on Facebook.
‘I told you while you were here but Jessica it was an absolute honor to have worked with you and your beautiful kids.
‘Jazele and Daniel were so sweet, I can still picture them giggling and laughing when Daniel jumped on her back.
‘In a world that’s so morbid, the reason I posted these photos was so hopefully people get to see a small glimpse of the shining light you all were and not just the final moments that took you all away.’
Jessica had lost her younger sister in February last year, and the troubled couple joined the rest of her family to celebrate mother’s day with mother Blanca Menendez just six days before Olmos’s arrest for domestic violence in May this year.
Jessica’s stepdaughter Arianna Olmos pointedly omitted the father as she paid a moving tribute to his murdered family.
‘When I was told three of the most caring souls I knew gained their angel wings my heart sunk and broke into pieces,’ the West Texas A&M University student wrote.
‘You three were loved by all those around you and will be missed.
‘Jazale my baby I’m going to miss that smile of yours, your laugh, and goofy faces.
‘Daniel I will miss your smile and your love for cars.
Jessica I was thankful to have someone like you as a stepmom and still showed me love and cared for me.
‘I’m grateful that God had put you and the kids in my life. I can’t even put into words how hurt I am.’
