Deandre Wilkins, Memphis, Tennessee man stabs pregnant ex girlfriend more than ten times as the assault marks the 3rd time since July the man assaulted his ex after recent break up.
‘I told you I was going to get you…’ A Tennessee man was arrested after Memphis police say he stabbed his former girlfriend more than 10 times on Friday.
Deandre Wilkins, 35, following his arrest was charged with attempted first-degree murder, and one count of domestic assault. He is in the Shelby County Jail on $2,000,000 bond.
The former boyfriend’s arrest comes after Friday’s attack marked the third assault on his ex girlfriend since the summer according to police.
Multiple assaults on woman since breaking up over the summer
The Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a call reporting injuries in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Havana Street at 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.
Officers found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times at the scene. The victim was taken to Regional One Health according to MPD.
The victim provided a statement to police at the hospital, saying she was walking with friends when her ex-boyfriend, Deandre Wilkins, showed up and started punching her in the face. According to the affidavit, Wilkins pulled out a kitchen knife and started stabbing the victim.
Wilkins allegedly kept telling the victim ‘I told you I was gonna get you,’ while he stabbed her, approximately 10 times according to a criminal complaint cited by abc24.
The victim positively identified Wilkins in a photo.
The affidavit states that the victim and Wilkins were in a yearlong relationship until a few months ago. They have known each other since childhood, and the victim is currently pregnant with Wilkin’s child.
Friday’s assault is the third time Wilkins allegedly assaulted the woman since July. On July 24, Wilkins allegedly punched her in the face three or four times and then stole her purse. The victim did not immediately report the incident according to lawandcrime.
But there’s more.
On Aug. 5, Wilkins allegedly held the victim and her four kids captive in their apartment. A criminal complaint said Wilkins punched her in the mouth and threatened to kill her if she tried to leave. He also allegedly picked up a kettlebell weight and said, ‘I will smash your face in if you try to leave!’
Cops arrested Wilkins on charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence and four counts of false imprisonment. The victim also told detectives about the July 24 incident, and they tacked on charges of robbery and domestic violence, records show.
Wilkins paid the $60,000 bond to get out of jail but a judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest on Aug. 20 after he failed to show up for a court appearance, records show. Prosecutors say he has previous convictions for aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, aggravated robbery and burglary. Wilkins is on probation, according to the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
