Colt Gray aunt, Annie Polhamus Brown takes to social media to defend the Apalachee school shooter, as the relative insists he had insurmountable hurdles and a wrecked family history to contend with as social media commentators condemn her.
Fissure has come to the fore following social media posts from teen shooter, Colt Gray’s relatives defending the 14 year old Georgia gunman’s actions which left 4 dead and 9 hospitalised and 30 injured, following one of the largest school mass shootings in Georgia history.
The teenager’s aunt, Annie Polhamus Brown, whom many came to lambast, took to Facebook following yesterday’s Apaschool shooting, bringing up issues he ‘dealt with’ along with saying she ‘will take care of my nephew and what he needs on this side.’
Posted Gray’s aunt in a series of rapid posts: ‘They are charging my 14yo nephew as an adult, for murder. Y’all ready to see Polhamus blood in full throttle? Nah, I wouldn’t be either.

‘I will not leave my nephew standing alone!!!’
And in another post: ‘Y’all can go ahead and play the blame game all you want, but the FAMILIES affected by my nephew’s actions deserve all the attention now!!!!’
‘I will take care of my nephew and what he needs on this side – just check yourself before you speak about a child that never asked to deal with the bullsh*t he saw on a daily basis!!!’
And yet in another post: ‘PLEASE SOMEONE GET ME IN TOUCH WITH GBIIIII! I’VE TRIED CALLING!!!
‘I am not scared, I will not back down.’
‘I will not leave my nephew standing alone!!!’ she continued in the post. ‘When Uvalde (school shooting) happened, I told my own children that ‘only hurt people hurt people.”
Brown went on to reveal in numerous social media posts how her sister, Marcee Gray had created a dysfunctional family unit. Polhamus Brown went on to claim her sister being addicted to drugs along with stealing from her family to sustain her habit – an episode which led to the 14 year old shooter’s mother being arrested on November 6th ‘for possession of methamphetamine, sale, distribution, or possession of dangerous drugs, concealing identity of a vehicle, and other charges.’

‘Such a sweet boy!’
While Polhamus Brown’s remarks sparked backlash online (do you suppose???), her Facebook friends stood behind her and reiterated her comments on the tragedy.
One apparent relative said Colt ‘never asked for what he’s been through – I’m with you 1000000%. Prayers for EVERYONE affected.’
Another commenter, claiming to be a former teacher of the alleged school shooter, said: ‘I taught Colt and know first hand he dealt with so much!
‘I love him and will be thinking about him and your family as you go through this tragedy! Such a sweet boy.’
After Polhamus Brown’s social media posts emerged, some criticized her remarks, with one saying the alleged shooter’s ‘family failed him, and now you wanna make excuses.’
Social media speculated that Colt Gray’s family was equally responsible for his ‘immoral actions’ and how they may have provided the ‘troubled’ teen a more secure family upbringing that may have tempered his ultimate aggression and nihilism.
Others lambasted the boy’s parents for failing to keep guns away from him and being ‘too lazy’ to guide him and now demanding that they too be held directly responsible for their son’s shooting which left four dead and up to 30 injured.
