Carlee Russell Alabama fraudster faces charges over kidnap hoax that could see her spending one year behind bars and fined $100K. Authorities continue to explore whether to charge Hoover woman.

When there is no more air in the tyres…. Alabama prosecutors are considering booking general all round media spectacle, Carlee Russell on two charges, which could lead to the fraudster serving a year behind bars if convicted of faking her disappearance when she went missing for two days.

Russell could be charged with falsely reporting an incident and false reporting to law enforcement authorities, Jefferson County Chief Assistant DA Lane Tolbert told ABC News.

The class A misdemeanors are punishable by up to one year in jail, he said.

‘Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landside, No escape from reality’

‘We advise what we think the charges should be,’ Tolbert told the outlet, adding that any criminal charges would be filed by the circuit clerk of Jefferson County, Bessemer Division’s office.

‘We will announce those charges when and if they are filed,’ he told Fox News Digital.

On Monday, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said to date no charges had been filed against Russell who for close to two weeks garnered 24/7 obsequious media coverage as to her possible fate. That all changed when lawyers for the 25 year old woman released a statement earlier this week admitting that Carlee had effectively orchestrated an elaborate kidnapping hoax and fooled the world who had cradled her by the bosom.

The nursing student has since refused to talk to the press and rebutted police requests for further interviews.

A spokesperson for the circuit clerk’s office has declined to comment on the case as the Hoover Police Department continues to deliberate what exactly to do with our collective non hero – as debate continues to rage whether her actions were that of a wanton media starved attention zealot or that of a mentally unhinged woman seeking attention and validation – even at the greater inconvenience of society.

‘Goodbye, everybody, I’ve got to go, Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth’

Meanwhile, former FBI Special Agent Jonathan Gilliam told Fox News Digital that the woman could be on the hook for at least part of the cost of the law enforcement investigation into her disappearance – an amount he said could likely surpasses $100,000.

‘You know, you’re looking at dozens of man hours plus the fact that somebody could get wrongly convicted or killed or, you know, so the cost and the safety of it adds up very quickly,’ he told the outlet.

Which is akin to asking a beaten up Chevy with four flat tyres to go for a cross country drive. To oblivion. And back.

Any way the wind blows…
