Katlynn Smith Seminole, Florida woman causes car crash that kills driver, Kanh Nguyen, after having fled two earlier car crashes. Suffers severe injuries.
Reckless with other people’s lives.
A Florida woman has been charged with causing a 53 year old driver’s death after crashing into the man’s Lexus vehicle after minutes earlier fleeing two earlier car accidents, police said.
Katlynn Smith, 28, of Seminole was driving a Toyota Camry in Pinellas County, the morning of October 19, when the first crash occurred, investigators said after illegally changing lanes. Smith allegedly fled the scene, prompting the other driver to follow her and report the ‘reckless’ driver to police.
But as she tried to get away, Smith hit another vehicle, which was stopped at a red light, WTVT reported. Once again she didn’t stop, allegedly driving through the red light in a bid to escape.
As Smith sped away, she crashed into the Lexus driven by Kanh Nguyen, killing him and sustaining serious injuries herself. The two drivers involved in the two earlier crashes were not injured abcactionnews reported.
Smith is in custody while recovering at a local hospital. She faces charges for vehicular homicide and hit-and-run with property damage, online records from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office indicate.
