Dallas woman, Margaret Ruth Mankin charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Eric Ian Jones after pushing him out of vehicle and running over him after argument.

A Texas woman has been accused of killing her boyfriend after running over him with a car after an argument. Upon plowing over the man, the girlfriend is alleged to have left the scene, later saying she had been unable to locate her boyfriend, ‘after falling out of the vehicle.’

Margaret Ruth Mankin, 23, of Garland, was arrested on a murder charge Thursday in the death of Eric Ian Jones, 23, four months after he was found ‘unresponsive’ along Far North Dallas street on June 1, reports the Dallas Morning News.

Investigators tracked the vehicle seen in surveillance video running over Jones as being registered to an address in Richardson, where a man who answered the door saying he was Mankin’s father. During questioning the father claimed the couple had gotten into a fight, earlier that day.

‘She said she got into a fight and pushed him out of the car last night and is afraid she killed him,’ the father recalled his daughter telling him earlier that day.

‘Surveillance video showed the vehicle near where Jones was found at around 12:40 a.m., and Mankin’s cellphone data placed her in that area around that time,’ the Dallas Morning News reported.

The father then led police to a home in Garland where his daughter lived with the victim.

Couple observed as having been agitated with each other shortly before the boyfriend was found dead along a road.

Mankin admitted that she and Jones had argued while inside the vehicle and claimed Jones broke her cellphone before ‘getting out of the car’, WFAA reports.

Witnesses reported seeing the couple apparently agitated with each other at a friend’s home earlier that morning and getting into an automobile just after midnight. Within an hour, Jones would be lying dead along a road.

Mankin was charged after blood found on the underbelly of the car matched Jones’ DNA, according to a murder warrant that claims she intentionally ran over Jones. A search of public records revealed Mankin having no prior criminal history.

Come Friday Mankin was set free after posted bail of $100K. She now awaits trial.
