Danielle Carreon, Mascotte, Florida woman throws Chihuahua dog over dog’s shelter fence cause she couldn’t afford to take care of it charged with animal abuse.

A Florida homeless woman who allegedly threw her small dog over the fence of an animal shelter – after saying she was unable to take care of it – has been charged with aggravated animal abuse.

Danielle Carreon of Mascotte was standing outside the Lake County Animal Shelter when she called the Lake County Communications Center

The 31-year-old told dispatchers she was homeless and could no longer take care of her Chihuahua mix, ‘Little Bit’.

Dispatchers told Carreon the shelter wouldn’t be open until 8am the next morning and she could drop off her dog then WESH Orlando reported.

Carreon in turn is alleged to have then tossed the small dog over a five-foot-tall fence before leaving the scene.

Little Bit expected to make full recovery after suffering injuries:

Around 7pm, an animal enforcement officer called Carreon to follow up on the situation with Carreon saying she’d found the dog a home.

Later, the officer drove by the Lake County Animal Shelter and found Little Bit trying to escape through a hole.

Little Bit – observed to be limping,  escaped the shelter – running along a busy road until authorities captured the injured dog.

According to the arrest report, Carreon told police that the dispatchers told her to throw the dog over the fence.

A claim discredited by her recorded phone conversation with the center.

Carreon was taken to the Lake County Jail

Little Bit is expected to make a full recovery, but won’t be available for adoption as authorities have classified the animal as live evidence.

Carreon has been previously arrested on multiple accounts, including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), improper exhibition of firearm and aggravated battery-person uses a deadly weapon.
