What led to Jairque L. Shannon allegedly going on a stabbing spree at a Petersburg, Virginia, Octapharma Plasma Center? Suspect wielded machete.
A 20 year old man has been arrested after allegedly going on a stabbing spree at a Virginia plasma center, Thursday afternoon leading to four people injured. The incident follows donors arriving at the center to give blood.
Jairque L. Shannon was reported arriving at the Octapharma Plasma center in Petersburg, Thursday at around 4:40 p.m., then proceeding to burst inside the blood center, while wielding a machete– sending staffers and donors running for their lives.
‘The suspect possibly has a machete. Units use caution,’ a dispatcher is heard saying in a recording released by broadcastify.com.
Two victims remain hospitalized, with one in critical condition and one stable, Petersburg Police tweeted. The remaining victims were treated and released.
Lt. Dustin Sloan said Shannon was arrested without incident once cops arrived.
‘He was sitting in a chair waiting for us,’ Capt. Emanuel Chambliss noted.
Not immediately clear is what prompted the man allegedly attacking and why he carried out his attack at the blood donation outlet.
Shannon, 20, was charged with three counts of malicious wounding and a count of animal cruelty. To date it remained unclear what kind of animal was injured, or how.
Following the incident, Octapharma Plasma released a statement saying they are ‘heartbroken’.
