Drunk driver arrested after killing Odessa twin girls (playing next to their home)

Angelica Garcia charged with intoxication manslaughter after drunk driving and killing, Odessa, Texas six year old twins, Mia and Mya Coy.

An alleged drunk driver has been arrested after striking and killing six-year-old twin sisters who were playing next to their family’s fireworks stand. 

Angelica Garcia, 36, is accused of having driven through a barricade off Highway 80 in OdessaTexas while intoxicated, Wednesday night. 

The girls, Mia and Mya Coy, were playing together close to the fireworks stand when they were struck by Garcia’s 2014 Chrysler 200.

Police say Garcia only stopped when she crashed into a large trailer the Odessa America reported.

The sisters were rushed to the Medical Center Hospital where they were both pronounced dead. 

No one else was injured in the crash, according to police. 

Officers said Garcia was drunk and they arrested her at the scene.

Odessa twin parents: ‘They had a whole life ahead of them but that was taken away’. 

The parents of the girls, Raul and Agueda Coy, said their daughters did everything together.  

‘God allowed these precious angels to enter this world together to exit together too,’ they said. 

‘These babies did almost everything together. They had a whole life ahead of them but that was taken away. 

‘They were very loving children always knew how to put a smile on anyone in the room.’

The parents also thanked their family and friends for their prayers and thoughts.  

GoFundMe page set up to help the family of the twins has already raised more than $40,700 as of late Friday afternoon, EST.

Garcia has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter, a second degree felony and was released on $70,000 bail on Thursday.
