Rapper XXXTentacion death: Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy was on Monday afternoon shot dead after leaving a Fort Lauderdale motorcycle dealership as questions are raised what led to him being targeted?
Rapper XXXTentacion has died after being fatally shot Monday afternoon as the 20 year old singer left a motorcycle dealership north of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office in a press release told of the shooting occurring at 3.57pm as XXXTentacion (born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy) made his way from the Deerfield Beach motorsports shop. At the time the victim was sitting in a black BMW.
Preliminary investigations led to police saying the rapper, known for his breakout his, ‘Look at me’ was likely the victim of a ‘possible robbery’. Or was he?
Police said Jahseh Onfroy was approached by ‘two armed suspects’ as he was leaving the dealership with at least one assailant firing at him. From there sheriffs said the two men ‘fled in a dark-color SUV.’
Police confirmed the suspects taking a Louis Vuitton bag from the rapper’s vehicle.
Despite efforts to save Onfroy, the popular Florida based rapper was pronounced dead at a local hospital one and a half hours later.
Police dispatch audio obtained by TMZ shows a witness saying someone in a black Dodge SUV firing on someone in a black BMW, believed to Onfroy’s vehicle.
An onlooker at the crime scene shared video (see below) on Twitter of a man who looks like XXXTentacion sitting motionless in the front seat of a vehicle as someone checked his pulse.
Ironically, hours before his shooting death, the rising hip-hop star Insta-storied that he was ‘planning a charity event for this weekend in Florida’.
The investigation is ongoing, with questions surrounding the rapper’s killers knew their target (or vice versa) or whether Onfroy had simply been at the wrong place wrong time? Anyone with information was being urged to call detectives John Curcio or Walt Foster at 954-321-4210 or an anonymous tip line at 954-493-TIPS.

Rapper XXXTentacion aka Jahseh Onfroy ongoing legal woes:
Leading into Monday’s shooting, XXXTentacion had been facing trial on multiple felony charges in connection to allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman.
He repeatedly denied the woman’s accusations, which were detailed at length in a 2017 deposition previously reported on by Pitchfork. The deposition followed the rapper’s October, 2016 arrest where he was booked with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, and false imprisonment.
The woman claimed while living with XXXTentacion in Orlando, Florida, the rapper allegedly threatening her life ‘like every day.’ The woman accused the rapper of also punching, kicking, tackling and head-butting her, among other abuse.
In a separate incident from 2015, Pitchfork reported XXXTentacion pleading no contest to aggravated battery with a firearm and armed home invasion charges. He was sentenced in that case to six years’ probation.

Did Rapper XXXTentacion forebode his own imminent death?
Perhaps foreboding his own death, XXXTentacion had previously posted video to Instagram Live in which he spoke about what he hoped his legacy would be.
In the undated clip, he is seen speaking into his phone as he drives along, reflecting: ‘If worse thing comes to worst, and I f***ing die or some s*** and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life.’
‘If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me,’
He concluded: ‘Do not let your depression make you. Do not let your body define your soul, let your soul find your body. Your mind is limitless. You are worth more than you can believe. All you have to do is dream and all you have to do is want to fulfill that dream and have the strength.’
It remained unclear whether the rapper’s death come Monday was related to payback for alleged domestic abuse allegations or gang warfare as has been the case with other high profile rappers in the US.
