Saeed Ahmad a Brooklyn man is arrested after fleeing a car crash he caused, leaving his girlfriend behind to burn to death.
Saeed Ahmad a 23 year old Brooklyn man has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a crash along the Gowanus Expressway, leaving his girlfriend to burn to death after having stacking his vehicle.
Killed was 25 year old Astoria, Queens woman, Harleen Grewel, whose charred remains were discovered in the front passenger seat after firefighters extinguished flames from the 4am Friday, morning crash along the Brooklyn Queens Express way (BQE).
Cops eventually caught up with the dead woman’s boyfriend who had left the scene after ‘hailing a taxi’ to Maimonides Hospital in Borough Park.
At the time the man was being treated for burns to his extremities.
Firefighters said Ahmad’s flame engulfed 2007 Infinity G35 sedan had been burned to a cinder.
Taken into custody, Ahmad was booked on charges of criminally negligent homicide, manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and speeding.

Saeed Ahmad flees burning car: Can I get a ride?
Cops say Ahmad, of Mill Basin, had lost control of his car as it was heading westbound near Centre Street in Red Hook. The car burst into flames after striking a concrete barrier reported the nypost.
Video obtained by ABC 7 shows flames engulfing the car as a man walks toward a waiting cab, gets inside, and is driven away.
‘Can I get a ride?’ he can be heard asking the cabbie.
Ahmad and Grewel may have been dating, the station reported.
Told a witness riding by in a cab, ‘The car was popping as we drove past – it was really hot.’
Adding, ‘I was in a taxi and the driver said he’d never seen anything like that in his life. We thought it might explode.’
Of note, Ahmad admitted to having a few drinks before the crash but was not legally drunk when his blood was tested at the hospital, police sources said.

The nydailynews reported Ahmad’s relatives saying he tried saving Grewal, ‘but couldn’t’.
‘He said the girl that was in the car was stuck in there and he tried to get her out, that’s why his arms were burned,’ said Saeed’s brother Waheed Ahmad. ‘He couldn’t…it was too late for her.’
Upon her death, Grewal who worked for a catering company was remembered by friends as saying she would volunteer to help out at events.
Sometimes she took the train home; sometimes family would pick her up; and other times people she was working with would drop her off at home, relatives said.
The family said it was normal for her to work late.
Ahmed had been scheduled to appear in Brooklyn court on Friday.
And then there was this comment on the web, ‘He’d been drinking and weaving in and out of traffic at high speed. That’s why he ran. An additional factor is that he is a selfish, disgusting human stain of a person who couldn’t care less about anyone else.’
