Nole Marin model management lawsuit: Did I drive 3 people into poverty?
The Manhattan filed suit cites in part the AIM Model Management owner driving the litigants ‘directly into poverty while he enjoyed a high lifestyle …funding his personal vanity with dinner and trips.’
The suit argues that Marin, also a judge on ABC’s ’True Beauty’ paid Yves Saint Laurent male model Devon White and Russian model Iana Khanashevich a fraction of what they should have received from jobs.
Reveal court papers: ‘White never saw most of the money he was owed by Marin for all of the work he did as a model for YSL.’
So puny was any payment White received that the model could barely afford to pay for basics such as groceries.
The suit also alleges Marin pocketing nearly all the cash that clients paid for shoots with Khanashevich.
Cites the suit in part: ‘Marin attempted to defraud the plaintiffs directly into poverty while he enjoyed a high lifestyle only fueled by his image as a television personality and judge on … ‘America’s Next Top Model.’
But it gets better.
The suit also alleges Marin stiffing booker Darrin Judkins, with the model agent owner concocting ‘fantastical’ excuses including claims he was hospitalized for gout.
And the few times that Noel Marin made any effort to settle his obligations, led to Judkins receiving checks that simply bounced.
The suit also alleges the sleaze model hustler conspiring to deceive Russian model Khanashevich, who wasn’t fluent in English by choosing to only speak English to her and failing to get her translations.
According to a report via the nypost, Marin has evaded paying his litigants for more than a year, with the models screwed on account of a having signed an exclusive with AIM which forbids them going to other agencies. Never mind the fact that the agent that is making big bucks out of them is refusing to pay them while Marin continues to live life on the hog.
But there’s more.
On the rare occasions when Marin offered cash, he insisted it be off the books.
According to the suit, ‘Marin transferred money from AIM to himself personally in order to avoid tax obligations to the IRS, state of New York and city of New York.’
Paul Liggieri, the lawyer for the models and Judkins, said their suit reveals an ugly truth about modeling.
Told the lawyer: ‘There is a misconception that most models live a glamorous lifestyle,’
‘However, the truth of that matter is that most of these individuals are simply hardworking people in pursuit of a dream. Unquestionably, it is a shame that Mr. Marin turned their dreams into a nightmare.’
Of note, in an unrelated incident, Nole was formerly sued by a model who said he got too touchy feely.
Marin to date is understood to have declined all media requests for comment. Can you guess why?
