Wisconsin parents, Jason Roth and Amanda Eggert have pled not guilty after they were observed being driven home along with their eleven month old baby by their nine year old daughter after a night of heavy drinking.
Appearing in front of Polk County Court on Friday, the drunk couple denied charges of recklessly endangering safety and child neglect.
Things came to a head when on the evening of January 31 a sheriff’s deputy responded to a call about an erratic driver. Upon arriving at the scene, the deputy according to a report via fox8 found the coupe and their children parked at a boat drop in Polk County, about 75 miles northwest of Minneapolis.
The deputy arrested the couple when he learned that their 9-year-old daughter was driving them and their baby home in their pickup truck because they were both intoxicated, according to the complaint from the county prosecutor’s office.
To boot, Amanda Eggert also faces charges stemming from a fight she had with paramedics who’d arrived to help her with a cut on her hand suffered when she was snowmobiling earlier in the day.
Of question is how frequently the couple got drunk, whether they had ever demanded their daughter to assist them in the past upon being drunk and what trauma their behavior may have had on the couple’s children?
Both the nine-year-old and the infant are being cared for by family while Eggert and Roth remain in jail according to a report via KMSP.
Lawyers for the couple were not immediately available for comment.
