Sheriff Roger Garrison just horsing around?

‘It was just me at a Halloween party way back when. It was a prank. Honest. You’ve got to believe me.’ But do we really believe Sheriff Roger Garrison?

opposing views: In Cherokee County, Georgia, Sheriff Roger Garrison said he has no affiliation with the Ku Klux Klan, despite old photos that surfaced showing him wearing a robe and hood.

Sheriff Garrison told WSB-TV News that he wore the costume to a Halloween party around 25 years ago, long before he took office:

“I don’t deny it wasn’t stupid, looking back now, but there again I say what 21- or 22-year-old in this world hasn’t made some stupid mistakes?”

Sheriff Garrison is up for re-election this year. He believes that the anonymous leak of the pictures is “purely political” and the “lowest of the low to infer whatever they’re attempting to infer there.”

Purely political? Should that surprise anyone? Unless of course it wasn’t necessarily political but a legitimate attempt to get the constituency to take note of how things actually work in Sheriff Garrison’s neck of the woods. That of course might take some homework and voters would need to ask themselves how Sheriff Garrison’s records stacks up against other county sheriffs and what if any discerning trends can be noted from Sheriff Garrison’s tenure to date?

As evil or politically incorrect it might be to wear a KKK regalia, photos to that effect taken some time ago don’t necessarily inform us of anything. Of course if the uniform was worn around other men wearing the same outfit yes we might have reason to be concerned, but at a Halloween party? Isn’t that what Halloween parties are about in the first place, to dress like the demon you wish to be or detest?

Offers the sheriff: “I don’t think anyone who knows me is going to think anything of this, but it’s just sickening and it hurts my family.”

Who else interestingly who has chosen to not pay any attention to the photos includes Sheriff Garrrison’s opponent, David Waters:

Garrison’s opponent, David Waters, said someone showed him the photos a year ago, but he chose to ignore them:

“It is a bad judgment call, and [that] type of clothing represents hate, and I certainly don’t want any part of that

Unless of course there’s a similar photo of Mr Waters lurking around as well….?
