The accessories were all flawless: flat sandals, espadrilles and wide brimmed hats and big straw bags that made me yearn for the hot sand and cold Atlantic seawater. I wanted to sip gin and tonics, and be filmed in black and white. These are the kind of clothes that inspire a woman to wear lipstick.
On the whole, the pieces were made to bring out the best in a woman’s body: Berrardi knows how to create clothes that flatter and enhance. But a few of the more couture pieces were suitable only for the very svelte. One bib detail in particular made even the miniscule creature wearing it look a little wide. But the closing gown, a gold sequined halter with a dramatically low back was one of those once-in-a-lifetime dresses that would make anyone look long, lean and beautiful. I was in love. It was every schoolgirl fantasy of what a fancy dress should be: glittery, sexy, show-stopping. In fact, the entire collection painted a picture of how I wish life could be: effortlessly glamorous and full of beautiful clothes.
